Tuning how you sound
Your TrueTone Profile starts from your interview with Tru, but it is not locked. In your TrueTone settings you can nudge eight trait dials and add written voice direction in your own words, so every future draft lands closer to how you actually sound.
What it is
The interview gives the system a strong first read on how you sound. Tuning is where you refine that read over time so the drafts land closer to you and you edit less.
Everything lives on one screen, the TrueTone tab in your account, and it has two parts that work together:
- The eight trait dials, which describe your communication style at a glance.
- Voice direction, where you write in plain words how you want to show up.
If you built a full profile in the interview, you also get finer controls for the personality traits and communication style the analysis picked up from your own words.
Who it is for
Every loan officer has a profile, and every loan officer can tune it. You do not need a technical bone in your body. If a draft feels a little too formal, a little too long, or uses a phrase you would never say, this is where you fix the pattern once instead of editing every future draft by hand.
How it works
Set your eight trait dials
Each dial is a short menu of plain-language choices. Pick the option that fits you and the screen shows an example sentence written that way, so you can hear the difference before you commit. A dial you have changed is highlighted so you can see your edits at a glance, and your changes save when you save the section.
These eight dials are the eight traits of your TrueTone Profile:

Write your voice direction
Dials shape the feel; voice direction gives the system your actual words. There are four short boxes: a voice brief in a sentence or two, phrases or patterns to lean into, phrases or patterns to avoid, and a few sample lines that sound like you. This is the most powerful steering you have, because what you write here outranks anything the analysis merely inferred.
If a box was pre-filled from your interview, it is marked “Drafted from your interview. Refine anytime.” The moment you edit that box, it becomes your own authored direction and carries more weight than the draft did.
Fine-tune the traits from your interview
If your profile came from a voice interview, you also see the personality traits the analysis read from how you speak, each as a one-to-ten slider with a short note explaining the read. Nudge a slider if a trait feels off, and adjust the communication and professional style details the same way. These sections only appear once there is interview analysis to show.
Your settings here versus steering a single draft
The dials on this screen set your defaults. When you go to create a piece of content, the same eight dials appear again, pre-set from your profile. Nudging one there steers only that one draft and does not change your saved profile. Come back here when you want to change how you sound everywhere, going forward.
Good to know
Tuning your profile does not use content credits. Adjusting dials, writing voice direction, and saving your settings are always free. Credits are only spent when you generate content.
When you save a change, it becomes the new default for future drafts. It does not rewrite content you have already created. To refresh an older piece, regenerate it after saving your changes.
Your written voice direction always wins. If your brief, your do-say lines, or your avoid list disagree with something the interview guessed about you, the system follows your written words. You are the source of truth for your own voice.
Does the system learn from my edits
TrueTone is designed to get sharper as you create, by drawing suggested refinements from the content you approve and letting you accept or ignore each one. That review-and-approve panel is not open for self-service yet, and it is rolling out. Until it does, the system never changes your voice on its own. Your saved dials and written direction stay the source of truth, and if you want a refinement made in the meantime, the TrueTone team can help.
