Flagged lines and Fix it
A flagged line is a check pointing at specific words. Click the underline to see why, then fix it, edit it, or keep it. Nothing changes your words unless you ask.
Reading a flagged line
Flagged words are underlined right in the piece:
| Underline | Level | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Red, solid | Blocking | The words likely break a rule. On a company account with strict settings, this has to change before the piece goes out. |
| Amber, dashed | Warning | Worth a second look. A warning never stops anything on its own. |
| Muted, dotted | Kept | You chose to keep the line as written. |
Click an underline to open its note. You see the reason in plain words, one suggested fix, and three buttons: Fix it, Keep as is, and Why?
Your three choices
Fix it. TrueTone rewrites just that one sentence, in your voice, saves it, and checks the new words. While it works, the label reads “Checking the new words”. If the sentence cannot be rewritten, nothing changes and you are told so; edit it yourself or keep it.
Edit it yourself. Change the words however you like and save. The save checks your new words. A save never changes your words for you.
Keep as is. The line stays, your choice is recorded, and the label reads “Flagged, kept by you”. On your own account that is the end of it. On a company account, a kept line can mean the piece goes to your Compliance Admin before it posts. See Sending a piece to compliance.
Why?
Why? shows the rule behind the flag: a quote of the regulation, a Read the rule link to the source, and whether the quote matches the official text.
Questions instead of fixes
Some fixes need something only you know, so TrueTone asks instead of guessing:
- A rate with no APR. Federal rules need the APR right beside any rate you state. TrueTone asks “What’s the APR for” that rate, with Add the APR and Leave the rate out.
- A line it wants to reword. A “Needs Your Call” card asks whether to reword it, with Reword it and Keep as is.
- Your NMLS ID on a graphic. On flyers and other graphics, a missing NMLS ID shows as an amber line asking “Your NMLS ID goes on every piece. Add it?”, with Add it and Keep as is. If your profile has no NMLS ID yet, it links to your profile. Text posts never ask this; see Your NMLS line and Equal Housing.
Good to know
- A piece gets three rewrites. After that, the card says the piece has had all its rewrites, and you can keep it or edit it yourself.
- An audiogram is voiced from its script. Once the voice is recorded, changing the words means making the audiogram again.
- Some places show the fix as text. In email blocks and website pages, the suggested fix appears beside Keep as is for you to apply yourself.
- Lines found while typing are a preview. They offer no Fix it or Keep. Save to get the full set of choices.
