Your NMLS line and Equal Housing
Your social profiles usually already show your NMLS ID, so TrueTone does not force a legal line into every caption. Adding it is a switch in your profile, off unless you or your company turn it on. Graphics and end cards are different: they keep the NMLS ID and Equal Housing.
Where your NMLS ID appears
| Piece | What happens |
|---|---|
| Video and audiogram end cards | Always carry your name, NMLS ID and the Equal Housing logo. |
| Flyers, postcards and graphics with words | Checked for your NMLS ID and Equal Housing. A missing NMLS ID shows as a flagged line with Add it. |
| Social captions and blogs | Your name, NMLS ID and “Equal Housing Opportunity” go underneath only when the NMLS line is on. |
Checks on captions, blogs, emails, scripts and website pages never flag a missing NMLS ID or Equal Housing line.
Your settings
Open your profile, then the Professional tab, then Professional information.
- Add my NMLS line to captions. When on, your name, NMLS ID and Equal Housing Opportunity go under each caption and blog. Off by default.
- My social media profile shows my NMLS ID. A one-time checkbox. Ticking it records that your social profile carries your NMLS ID. It never pops up and never stops anything; on a company account it shows in your company’s audit record.
If some of your Licensed States ask for your NMLS ID on each ad and the line is off, a note under the switch names those states and suggests turning the line on. It is a suggestion only.
When your company requires it
A company can require the line for everyone. When it does, the switch is on and locked, with the note “Your company requires it on every caption and blog.” The required line includes your name, your NMLS ID, your company’s NMLS ID and Equal Housing Opportunity. Org admins set this under Settings, Compliance. See Company compliance settings.
